It is 25th March 2020. We celebrate the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord. The readings are from Isaiah 7:10-14, 8:10; the second reading is from Hebrews 10:4-10; and the Gospel from Luke 1:26-38. The celebration invites us to do the will of God by assimilating the Word of God and bring out Jesus from our life. God’s Word visits us and desires to have a dwelling with us. Only some of us are willing to collaborate with the Word. Mother Mary responded to God fully and accepted the Word of the Father and brought the Only Beloved Son Jesus by the Holy Spirit. The first reading explains how King Ahaz refused to accept the offer made by God. Just because we are not willing to accept the offer, God does not remain idle. God goes ahead with the promise God made. The prophecy of the birth of a child who will be born in an unusual way for saving the world. “Therefore, the Lord Himself will give you a sign. Behold, a young woman shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.” (Is.7:13) The responsorial Psalm intercedes, “Here am I, Lord; I come to do your will.” (Ps.39:9). Jesus heals our sickness and removes shame and guilt from our personal sins. The sacrifice of Jesus is the response to the love of God. “And it is by God’s will that we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.” (Heb.10:10). The honorable visit with the request from God to a lowly maiden of the Lord. The affirmative response of our Beloved Mother Mary was watched keenly by the entire Heaven and brought about the promised salvation through Her Only Son Jesus. “For with God nothing will be impossible.” And Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be done to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.” (Lk.1:38). How are we going to respond to God who calls us through the Word of God during the celebration of the Sacrament of salvation. May the Lord help us to reply favorably to God who calls us unceasingly. The Lord will take care of everything if we cooperate with the plan God has for us. Though it is the difficult and gloomy time for us all around the world. Yet, with God we can handle it and through Jesus we are sure to be safe and secured. May you have a good day God bless you
