It is 25th April 2020. We celebrate the Feast of St Mark, the Evangelist. The readings are from 1 Peter 5:5-14; and the Gospel from Mark 16:15-20. To be the messenger of the Lord, one needs to know the Message of the Lord. The first reading describes the qualities of a good believer and the ways to be good. They are: Humility, obedience to the elders, leaving the anxiety at the Lord’s abode, self-discipline, untiringly alert, beware of the invasion of Satan in life, embracing God in everything, and accepting suffering a part of life. “After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, support, strengthen, and establish you.” (1 Pet.5:10). We are all walking witnesses with the awakening consciences. To do good is the only way of fighting against evil. More we come closer to God more far stretched the attacks of the Satan yet the sufferings that inflicted by evil cannot long last as the blessings of the Lord never stay stagnant. Nothing in us is stagnant except our sins and personal evil. Everything is on the move even during the lockdown around the world due to this pandemic. Our faith, love, charity, hope, care and many more are constantly on move. Only in the tunnel of suffering we strike the light of life. Emerging from suffering and pain is inherent every human soul. Setting the soul free is not taught but sighted by the experiences of love and light. There is a wave length, a music, a rhythm to authenticity and genuineness and it travels beyond all barriers and boundaries to those who have sparked and trickled genuineness without any effort. It is worth going through pain, humiliation, hardship, learning lessons to be good. The responsorial Psalm praises, “Forever I will sing the goodness of the Lord.” (Ps.89:11). The Gospel invites us all to be the messengers of the Message of Christ. To proclaim Good News, one needs to peel off the evil within us put on by the Evil. Unless we preach and penetrate the depth of our lives, we cannot reach out to the rest of the world. The change begins right within where the light of grace is found around. Our life needs to be the Gospel of love, light, and life only then we can reach the ends of the earth. “They went out and proclaimed the good news everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by the signs that accompanied it.” (Mk.16:20). May the Lord kindly make use of us as the instruments of love, hope and peace. May you have a good day. God bless you.
