It is 28th July 2020. We celebrate the memorial of St. Alphonsa Muttathupadathu, Virgin.

The readings are from Jeremiah 14:17-22; and the Gospel from Matthew 13:36-43.

God is our only hope even when we breathe in hopelessness all around.

“We set our hope on you, for it is you who do all this.” (Jer.14:22).  Nothing goes unnoticed by God.

There is no shortage or scarcity of mercy in God.

The lamentation of Jeremiah invites the people to put their hope in God’s mercy.  Hunger and fear among the people in the first is what we witness around.  The evil

Unwanted Plants grow even in good soil without much efforts.

Unwanted words, thoughts and actions emerge even in the best and clean minds.

The responsorial Psalm praises, “For the glory of your name, O Lord, deliver us.” (Ps.79:9).

Jesus reminds us about the day we all need to face God.  unless we do a meticulous weeding out of the unwanted in our lives, we will not be able to bring out the best.  Some our selfish and sinful thoughts and actions look like good ones.  Without the power of the Holy Spirit, we cannot identify them and uproot them.  Life is the one-time opportunity to do good.  There is no substitute for life and living on earth.  We will never ever visit the world again and meet the people here on earth.  So, we have the high responsibility to handle them well as if we meet them for good.  God’s mercy is displayed in the environment of God’s justice.

Our life needs to be either accompanied or heralded by our good words and actions.

As God sows the good seeds in our heart, so the Evil one sows the evil in our life.

We do not need to fear about the children of evil around us.  God will take care of them.  Let us spend our life here on earth to conduct ourselves to testify being the children of light, life, and truth.

“Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father.” (Mt.13:43).

We all have to face God at the end for all that we are, or we are not, what we do or failed or refused to do and for those indifferent moment of ignoring the poor and the needy.

By constantly listening to the Word of God and living the values of the Kingdom of God, we can sort out the black spots we are not so happy about in our life.

May you have a lovely day.  God bless you.
