May the Lord bless you with good health and peace of mind in the Holy Spirit.
It is 28th January 2022. We celebrate the memorial of St. Thomas Aquinas, priest, and doctor of the Church.
We reflect on 2 Sam 11:1-10, 13-17 and Mark 4:26-34.
“The spiritual life is about being open to every moment, however incomplete because every moment in life has something to teach us about what it means to live well. It is about realizing that sometimes the perfection of the moment lies in accepting its imperfections,” remarks Joan Chittister.
King David committed the sin of adultery. A pattern of sequence in a display of sinful acts. He stayed home and did do his responsibility. While his soldiers were sacrificing on the battlefield, he engaged in leisure. His fire of lust on Bathsheba deluged the loyalty of an innocent husband. No one’s sin is so explicitly and in a detailed way presented in the entire Bible like that of David. Sin accompanies shame and guilt.
Evil acts happen when we have decided to do something else other than what is entrusted to us by God, community, and career. In a spur of a moment, we are enticed and entangled by a vicious circle of the web of sin. Getting used to the evil acts and extracting pleasures repeatedly without any remorse of conscience is what gives a mindset to live in sin.
Everything begins small in a simple way, but it spread leaps and bounds especially with sin.
When we cooperate with God, we experience growth. Jesus presents two parables of seeds and their mysterious growth. Hence let us continue to sow seeds of love, hope and mercy. May God bless you.
