May the Lord give you peace and health in the Holy Spirit.
It is 22nd July 2021.
We celebrate the feast day of St Mary Magdalene, the patron of repentant sinners and of the contemplative life. Her close relationship to Jesus offered her the privilege of encountering the Risen Lord. She was the apostle of love and great devotion to the Lord. She came from Magdala, near Galilee. Jesus drove out seven demons from her.
She is a grateful person who stayed near the tomb of Jesus to have the maiden encounter with the Risen Lord. Gratefulness is the genuine expression of love towards the person we love so dearly. “For your love is better than life, my lips will speak your praise.” (Ps.63:3).
She was a sincere seeker of the Lord. “I will seek him whom my heart loves.” (Song 3:2). A person who sought Jesus to the end not for convenience and for obtaining favour but for authentic love. Love is the inner courage to go after the person we love.
When everyone left the empty tomb, she stayed there for the one she loved.
She was the first evangelizer of the resurrection of Jesus. “Go and find the brothers and tell them: I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.”
As we celebrate her feast day, let us vow to embrace her faith and love she had for the Lord. Whatever infamous background we come from; Jesus makes us reputed person by being a grateful seeker who desires to share what one experienced with the Risen Lord.
May we too announce through loving that Jesus is alive. Have a lovely day. God bless you.
