Whatever the strength of the legion of evil, Jesus is strong than all of them put together

May the Lord bless you with peace and health in the Holy Spirit. It is 8th October 2021.

May the Lord bless you with peace and health in the Holy Spirit.

It is 8th October 2021.

We reflect on Joel 1:13-15; 2:1-2 and the Gospel of Luke 11:15-26.

There is a war we all need to fight against the war against evil that is brewing right within each one of us.

Jesus gave His life fighting the cosmic evil that imprisoned the minds and body of us all.  Unless the Church, the people of God and the community take a firm stand in reaching out the poor and needy and empty ourselves daily and detaching the strings that are strangulating our love for the Lord.

The prophet Joel warns those priests to prioritize God’s work as the day of the Lord was so imminent otherwise to be prepared to face the punishment of the Lord.  But God will show mercy, compassion, and forgiveness to those who are faithful to the Lord.  Joel again cautions the people of God about the destruction of Jerusalem.  A holy war will be fought on account of Jerusalem, nothing ever seen before or in the future.  “Nothing like it has ever happened in ages past, nor will the future hold anything like it, even to the most distant generations.” (Joel 2:2).

Jesus himself had to deal with casting out demons.  A war that He had to fight till the end against the kingdom of evil and demons.  The power of God revealed in Jesus in exercising is unmatchable.  Whatever the strength of the legion of evil, Jesus is strong than all of them put together.  “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” (1 Jn. 4:4).  Therefore, there is no need to be afraid of evil in whatever the form they appear in our life; we can fight out with the One, who is in us.  Yes, “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” (Phil.4:13).

May the Lord grant us the courage to wage a war against evil and devil daily.  May God bless you.
