It is 28th December 2020. We celebrate the Feast of the Holy Innocents, Martyrs.
The readings are from 1 John 1:5-2:2; and the Gospel from Matthew 2:13-18.
As truth and grace go exist together, so lies and sins in us.
The image of God is hampered by our selfish choices. The image and likeness of God illumine and offer others hope, joy and peace when we are altruistic and live for the Lord.
We are the children of God not by our own merits and good things we have done but by His mercy and grace. So, we need to know our vulnerabilities and brokenness to be the beacon of hope to those who are in pain.
As we celebrate the feast of Holy Innocents, young and tender martyrs in shielding and protecting the new-born Christ, we need to vow today to provide the appropriate, safe, and joyful environment to the children of all ages. It is innumerable to narrate the owes that the children are going through so silently in their dark and lonely moments alone in our families, communities, countries and across the boarders due to selfish people. It is not enough praying for their protection, but we need to become the instruments of love and hope to such children who lose their lives used a human shield. We all need to something towards these children around us and those we do not see near us.
The responsorial Psalm praises, “Our soul has escaped like a bird from the hunter’s net.” (Ps.124:7).
The Holy Family of Jesus’ flight into Egypt of is re-enacted every second in many poor, less-fortunate families all around the world just keep up the policies, power, and position. It could also happen in our own families where the parental stubbornness, selfishness and stoic mentality could trample the innocent children and silence their cry due to our violent and noisy attitudes and behaviours. May the Lord protect our children through our selfless and altruistic love for the children. Have a lovely day. God bless you.
