May the Lord give you grace, peace and health in the Holy Spirit.
It is 14th November 2022. We reflect on Revelation 1:1-4; 2:1-5 and Luke 18:35-43.
“What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus said, “Lord, let me see again.” (Lk.18:41). Our longing to see the Lord never dies out until we see Him in person. One way or other we are all blind spiritually, relationally, and physically. When love loses its passion, it turns out to be profession, and formality, we become blind too.
“You have abandoned the love you had at first. Remember then from what you have fallen; repent and do the works you did at first.” (Rev. 2:5).
The first love with someone here on earth is still in the minds of most of us. Resilience in love is to bounce back to that which we loved and cherished initially.
We all began well with the Lord when we were young. We had such innocent, fertile and childlike trust in the Lord.
At times, our questioning the Lord has increased than the quest for the Lord. Our dependence on the people has increased while deepening our trust in the Lord has reduced to a drastic level.
The grumbling and gambling of life blinds our vision of our Lord even though He might be passing by so close to our heart, home, and life. Love without service is not a sacrifice but for a salary at the end. When we have stopped hearing the cry of the poor, the poverty of the orphan and the widow, we too are blind.
The prayer and persistent voice of the blind man be ours too. “Son of David, have mercy on me!” we all fall short of love that we had towards the Lord at first. It is time now for us to examine, evaluate and express our true love for the Lord through those who are in need. May God help us see Him in those who are silenced in our communities. God bless you.
