It is 06th January 2021. The readings are from 1 John 4:11-18 and the Gospel from Mark 6:45-52.
Belief in Jesus removes all fear. Is it true? If we accept and believe in Him, then why are we in fear in our life most of the times? Why did the disciple mistake him a ghost? When we are tired of loving God and other, we become sad for not getting the things we have been praying and asking God.
Truth and genuine love do not expect anything from anyone even from God. It goes on loving expecting nothing. The moment our minds are entangled expecting some returns for love we have in God and show to others, we begin to fear of being less loved.
Fear is one of the primary emotions we all go through in our life one time of the other. Fear makes us either to shun and shout or shine and surrender. More we fear about anything, more vulnerable in our belief. The secret and success of our life is in facing fear. With love in our hearts, we can face any type of fear. “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” (1 Jn.4:18).
In the episode of Jesus walking on the water, we read the disciple mistook Him to be a ghost. Whatever fear we face today in our life, Jesus tells us, “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” (Mk.6:50). When we lack the understanding who Jesus is, we begin fear Him even when He is near us. We panic seeing the violent waves of life. We all need to place our trust in Jesus just like the people of Israel who put their trust in the Lord crossed the Red Sea. May the Lord help us deal with whatever makes us fear. Have a lovely day. God bless you.
