Trimming the wings of charity is not the amnesty to compassion

May the Lord bless you with peace, grace, and health in the Holy Spirit. It is 12th February

May the Lord bless you with peace, grace, and health in the Holy Spirit.

It is 12th February 2022.  We 1 Kings 12:26-32; 13:33-34 and Mark 8:1-10.

Giving is in our DNA and so genetic that we do not need to learn from anyone.  The power of love is the power to give.

We have been presented with two persons namely Jeroboam and Jesus as givers to people in the readings.  One gives something spiritual but the other offer material as well as spiritual.  One misleads people to sacrifice to idols and Jesus sacrificed himself and offered Himself in the Holy Eucharist for people.

Our selfless giving cannot take us away from God unless it is given with selfish motives.

We all love giving something to the other and that is our human trait.  Something we give pleases God and at times, something we give to pacify our consciences and minds.

Trimming the wings of charity is not the amnesty to compassion.  Politicizing charity and religion poison the minds of people.  Every giving and charity is not aimed at feeding the hunger of the other, it might soothe our ego and flatten our consciences.  That is what happened to Jeroboam.

But Jesus wishes every one of us to share that little with those who have that little.  We must ignite the fire of love in others.  Moving away from the idolatry of hoarding, we can easily identify the thirst and hunger of the needy that take us closer to God.

Feeding the four thousand is not only a miracle but it is a lesson for the entire humanity that we all have the power to share if we deal with the yeast of the Pharisees.  We all have the seven loaves to distribute.  Jesus feels compassion for the need, but we have the loaves to share.  Would we make the Lord happy by sharing the best we have?  May God bless you.
