May the Lord bless you with grace, and peace in the Holy Spirit.
It is 21st January 2022. We celebrate the memorial of St Agnes, Virgin and Martyr.
We reflect on 1 Sam 24:3-21 and Mark 3:13-19.
God called us not merely for mobility but to aspire for nobility.
Returning evil for the evil we can become devils. Doing good tirelessly we gradually become gracious, graceful and achieve excellence. We bring the best of ourselves in the eventful misunderstanding, mistreatments and mismanaged affection.
Retaliating is human but revitalizing is retribution. Nobility normalises vengeful thoughts.
Just imagine you have someone who wants to get rid of you alive and hunting after you. And you are given a chance to deal with the person privately. What would you do? Would you kill the person in the mind or in reality?
The same scenario for David when he faced Saul in the cave. He would have killed him and claimed the kingship. He let him go alive and that is the nobility.
Jesus chooses 12 apostles to be His messengers of love, hope and mercy. It is easy to be a preacher but to live and spread the fragrance of God’s forgiving love to all people is the mission that is entrusted not only to the apostles but also to us the followers.
Without forgiveness, we can never become followers of Christ. Jesus does not want to change someone out there but to travel with Him and to accompany those who are left behind or left out.
“So may the Lord reward you with good for what you have done to me this day.” (1 Sam.24:20).
