May the Lord bless you with peace and health in the Holy Spirit.
It is 27th October 2021.
We reflect on Romans 8:26-30 and the Gospel of Luke 13:22-30.
Are we undermining the power of the Holy Spirit in our worship? There is no prayer without recognising the presence of the Holy Spirit. Prayer cannot be brought into the realm of multi-tasking. It is not like we are engaged in so many activities, and the Spirit of God is praying separately without being connected to what we are working on. All the necessary help we need for praying comes from God, the Spirit and lifts our spirit when we are brought down by the unfair treatments and cruel slashes on our body. By ignoring the presence of the Holy Spirit, we cannot enter a dialogue with God.
“The Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes with sighs too deep for words.” (Rom.8:26). So, there is enormously powerful spiritual support from the Spirit to intercede anything in accordance with the plan of God. Because God works in everything and therefore God converts the most challenging situation to the chosen moments of victory for us all who endeavour endlessly to do good. A new outlook, mindset, and perception are provided by the Holy Spirit. Pain and perils cannot diminish our love for God, if it does then we have a weak, fragile, and fraudulent faith. To mirror Christ is the objective and purpose of our life. It would be nearly impossible when we have chosen to shut our hearts to the promptings of the Holy Spirit through the Word of God.
To go through the pearly gate, we all need to enter the narrow gate of our life without being distracted, dejected and depressed.
God did not keep the gift of salvation for a particular tribe, caste, colour, and creed. It is a free offer to the entire humanity through Christ. That is why we need to understand the Gospel of the day from the comprehension of people at that time. During the time of Jesus, the believers held the idea that salvation is limited and for certain people only. “Then people will come from east and west, from north and south, and will eat in the kingdom of God. Indeed, some are last who will be first, and some are first who will be last.” (Lk.13:30). God wants all people to be saved through a passage of hope, and healing. “I am the door; whoever enters through me will be saved.” Knowing, loving, and following Jesus is the strenuous effort everyone requires to make. Being focused on doing good alone not enough but a constant effort to see good in others allows us to travel with the other in entering the gates of salvation.
May the Lord help us enter the narrow gate to have a broader vision of life as we interact with others. May God bless you.
