It is 4th November 2020.  We celebrate the memorial of St Charles Borromeo, Bishop.  The readings are from Philippians 2:12-18; the second reading is from Luke 14:25-33.

Love cannot be fruitful in an argumentative and complaining environment.  To will and work, we all need to have the love of God and a heart that never intends to hurt, hate and divide the other in anyway. We all can desire and dream a million things to achieve in our lives but it becomes a reality when we realize that God alone works through us.  A constant self-examination and updating spiritual resources, we becomes masters of our own destiny.  Without God’s grace and guidance, we at times do not easily reach the planned destinations in our person, social and parochial life. To be a disciple of Christ, we all need to give up our personal attachments and agenda.

“Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who is at work in you, enabling you both to will and to work for his good pleasure.” (1 Phil. 2:12)

Complaining and arguing is not a merely a time pass for some of us in our ecclesial communities but it kills the enthusiasm of the contributors too.  We all need to identify those elements in our interactions with others.  The more we are after our selfish inclinations,  the higher the possibilities of holding on to our views and looking down and speaking ill of others happen.

The responsorial Psalm praises, “The Lord is my light and my salvation.”  (Ps.26:1).

Jesus wants all of us be the disciples without hatred of any kind.  To love Jesus, we do not need to give up loving the most significant ones of our lives.  In fact, by loving them without prejudice and personal gain, we truly become the disciple of Jesus.  Jesus wants us to give up the unnecessary and hyper inflated and superficial connections that make us to weaken our love for God.  May we continue to love Jesus by loving others and especially our family members.  God bless you.  Have a lovely day.
