It is19th December 2020.

The readings are from Judges 13:2-7, 24-25; and the Gospel from Luke 1:5-25.

We celebrate the memorial of Anastasius I.

Life is full of surprises and sadness. The gift of life in a family is a blessing from God.  Barrenness in a married couple pulls them down and breaks their ties with others and questions God’s unwavering support and help in their life which was promised during the Sacrament of Marriage.

We have two parents who were advanced in age and beyond medical explanation were able to witness God’s promises of blessings in their life by giving birth to Samson and the promising having a son for Elizabeth and Zechariah.  We all could doubt and shocked when we are told that we are so much loved by God and God is doing a special blessing in our lives.  The more we question the promise of God, we remain barren spiritually.  As we are coming closer to celebrate the Nativity of the Lord, let us cultivate the courage to always trust the Lord. Faithfulness to each other in married life rewards us with all the spiritual and material blessings.  God cannot abandon us at moment of our lives.  Whatever the toughest barrenness we are facing in our lives, God can make it fertile.  There is God’s time in everyone’s life.  As Elizabeth, let us rejoice and praise, “This is what the Lord has done for me when he looked favourably on me and took away the disgrace I have endured among my people.”  (Lk.1:25).  We need to continue hold on to our faith and trust Him who would everything for us.  May you be blessed all through out the day.
