The readings are from Hebrews 13:1-8; and the Gospel from Mark 6:14-29.
The recipe for a happy life is to be hospitable to strangers, caring and loving to those in prison and pain, living a life free of fornication and adultery as a married person, beware of love of money, be contented with what we have in life, and emulating the models of faith in our educators and elders. The responsorial Psalm praises, “The Lord is my light and my salvation.” (Ps.27:1).
A false promise and selfish hospitality ferment the destruction and annihilation of the other. The attitudes of the king Herod were adulterous, uncaring, and evil to the core. Where there is so much power and authority entrusted, so much the responsibility and transparency are expected too.

No matter what at the end of our journey truth, love and faith will prevail in front of God always. Power of love never loses its battle over the atrocities of lies and oppression.
May the Lord help us not to abuse anyone, to be generous in welcoming strangers, to respect the marriage of the other, deal with our greed and to respect our leaders even if we differ them. With wisdom and integrity, we can live for the Lord and be faithful to the Good News. Have a lovely day. God bless you.
