May the Lord give you peace and health in the Holy Spirit.
It is on 3rd June 2024.
Are we committed or careless?
We celebrate the memorial of St Charles Lwanga and Companions, Martyrs.
We reflect on 2 Peter 1:2-7 and Mark 12:1-12.
God reveals himself through His Only Beloved Son Jesus. Our response is by knowing God in Jesus.
Our knowledge has several levels. We begin knowing physically, socially, emotionally and spiritually. Knowing Christ is the true devotion.
Our affirmations and reinforcement come from constant and consistent knowing of Christ through our spiritual life.
In the first reading, St. Peter invites us to consider a committed living for Christ.
The Catechism affirms this in the following lines. “The dignity of man rests above all on the fact that he is called to communion with God.” (GS.19:1).
Our greatness comes only by knowing and loving God otherwise, our living will be full of futility and passion.
Our openness to God and letting God in human connections strengthens our faith in Christ Jesus.
We are mastering ourselves daily with all our weaknesses, mistakes, failures, sinfulness and vulnerability to know God not as an individual in a room but rather as a community in a social milieu.
Knowing God is the lifetime project of the entire humanity. The anxiety, fear and preoccupation of sinking in the muddy waters of sinful conditions. We cannot have self-control with mere self-will but with the intentions and motives behind the actions that urge us to have control over our thoughts and actions.
Perfection in knowing cannot be achieved without faith in Jesus through loving one another.
We are all called to be holy. Patience and persistence are the energy of holiness. Our faith in Jesus gets expression in our charity through kindness and generosity without nitty gritty. Discerning to know the will of God is demonstrated in the decisions of charity and compassion we show to others.
In the Gospel, we are invited to be faithful to Christ Jesus even though the people around us infringe on the vineyard of the Lord and destroying the leaders.
May the Spirit of God help us to love God who reveals himself in His Son Jesus. May you have a good day.
