It is 1st March 2021.
The readings are from Daniel 9:4-10; and the Gospel from Luke 6:36-38.
John Mason suggests, “judge yourself with the judgement of sincerity, and you will judge others with judgment of charity.”
God’s measure of mercy is immeasurable. God shows mercy even though we do not deserve it in any standard whatsoever. Unnecessary and uncharitable judging destroys relationships. Some of us rush for judging the others so often while we do not even evaluate our behaviours periodically.
Mercy is the measure of forgiveness we show to one another. The measure of mercy we are enjoying needs to be experienced by others from us. “A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap; for the measure you give will be the measure you get back.” (Lk.6:38).
It is difficulty forgive those whom we love. How hard would that be to forgive those we have continues conflicts with? It is possible when we realize and recognise our faults, the river of forgiveness flows from ourselves.
Daniel felt the need for personal conversion in the first reading. Conversion without conversation with the one who has inflicted pain is self-defeating. Renewal requires reconciliation. Lent is not a time to be stubborn in forgiving others.
Our blessings solely depend on the quality of our forgiving attitudes and tendencies. The more we judge and criticise others, we signal a need for inner healing right within ourselves.
Let us be generous in forgiving and treating others. The measure mercy we show, the measure of forgiveness we received.
Could we make effort to be in touch with that someone who is still waiting for us and who needs our apology? Have a lovely day. May God bless all our efforts in reconciling with one another.
