May the Lord give you grace, peace and health in the Holy Spirit. It is on 08th November 2022. We reflect on Titus 2:1-8, 11-14 and Luke 17:7-10.
Are you free? Or are you attached to someone or something?
“So, if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.” (Jn.8:36)
As the children of God, we are invited to serve without expecting anything in return whether in kind or cash. We are all indebted to God in love. There is so much to do for God through others. At times, we are losing our focus on loving, serving and forgiving just because what we have been looking for from others, which is appreciation and recognition, was not given. But the Lord wants to convince us that we all need be conscious and careful about being attached and ascribing our good works to mere human appreciation and recognition. St. Paul wants Titus to train his mind to renounce impiety and worldly passions and that mindset will lead us to utter, “we are worthless servants; we have done only what we ought to have done!” (Lk.17:10).
Life is not about finding love, a job or happiness but staying in what we have found makes us contented. Our life becomes graceful and grateful when we value and view ourselves as worthwhile not because we have performed better in the past, but because we are capable of being the best from us in the present.
May the Lord grant us the humility to do good without being attached to praise and appreciation. God bless you.
