It is 17th March 2021.
The readings are from Acts 6:1-7; and the Gospel from John 6:16-21.
Life is always a course of discovery not a disclaimer of disaster.
and antidote to their work amidst the early church was caught in the violent storm of complaining and mismanagement of the resources meant for the widows. To calm the storm and to contain fear of the vulnerable and the weak ones of the Church, the Apostles responded approving the first deacons who looked after the work of charity. Social work is the continuum of the spiritual endeavour.
A constant complaining does not build up the community. Grumbling cocktails fear and lack of charity. Complaining rocks every lifeboat, even it can crash the boat. The readings of the day oscillate between complaining verses countering.
In everyone’s life, family, community and workplace, there is a moment we all have gone through a period of complaining about what others should have and could have done to us and families. Unity is the key for harmony and peace. Beyond our personal likes, and dislike there is a common good. In the light of the Word of God and prioritizing God’s Work, complaining can taken care.
The responsorial Psalm puts the trust, “Lord, let your mercy be on us, as we place our trust in you.” (Ps. 33:22).
The disciples in the boat went through a rough wind and stormy sea. Jesus comes to our help whatever the unfair situations of our life we face. He comes with the message, “It is I; do not be afraid.” (Jn.6:20). Let us continue row our boats to the shore like the disciples focusing on to the Lord. Jesus countered their fear by His loving and consoling presence. Complaining about life situation do not change anything but faith in Jesus does. Miracles do happen when we walk on the waters of fear and confusion. When we have faith in Jesus, the shore is near, and we cross the distance without fear. Even amidst stormy pandemic roaring waves all over again in the world, Jesus reassures that He is with us and there will be peace again in our life and in the world. Have a lovely day. God bless you.
