May the Lord give you peace and health in the Holy Spirit.
It is 31st March 2022.
We reflect on Exodus 32:7-14 and John 5:31-47.
A Lenten retreat preacher told the parishioners that all the parishioners are going to hell. One lady was bursting in to laugh. The preacher asked her the reason for her laughter. In reply, she said that thank God she was from the neighbouring parish.
Life with all its highs and lows is worth living. Faith with all its fragility is still firm and focused.
Leading our life and others to God is the most frustrating mission God has entrusted to each one of us.
Moses was entrusted with such a mission. People were stubborn, stagnant, and un-willing. When we begin to worship our intelligence, we too become like those in the desert who worshipped the molten calf.
Who is Jesus is brought out in what He is doing? The answer rest in the relationship with the Father. Who bears witness to Jesus? There are four witnesses, yet people found it hard to accept. Witness of John the Baptist, the works of God entrusted to Jesus, the testimony of the Father, and the Scripture.
Some of us are born with the golden tongue to please other people and play a second fiddle to get things done. It looks as though the words have the final say. Who do we please in life? The parents, the elders, the superiors, or the boss? What is directing your life and who is directing your actions? The search for meaning in life will be futile without purpose and commitment in life. Living our faith is the goal of our life. How do we spend our day? Complaining or complementing?
But Jesus asserts in the passage that it is not mere words, but His actions and all that God has entrusted to accomplish have the final say.
Amidst opposition and resistance, whose witness we depend on. Moses and Jesus too faced constant criticism from the critics yet they were constantly bearing witness to the Truth by their actions.
May our life become true witnesses to Jesus than mere words. May God bless you.
