May the Lord give you peace, grace, and health in the Holy Spirit.
It is 17th December 2021. We reflect on Genesis 49:2, 8-10 and Matthew 1:1-17.
The birth of Jesus brought everyone on board and closer to each other, whether gentile or believer, royal or poor and far or near to God.
The dream and prayers of humanity were to reconcile with God, but they did not know the way out until the promising of the Messiah in the person of Jesus. He was not born for a particular group race, believe and nation but all who seek God’s favour.
As we enter the intense of approaching the celebration of Christmas, we are invited to bless others as Jacob did. “Jacob the father of Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom Jesus was born, who is called the Messiah.” (Mt.1:16).
Jesus is the Wisdom of the Father and so we need to believe it is the Wisdom that brought our humanity this far not the mere guidance of some extra-ordinary kings. Everyone can seek the wisdom of God in spite of being born outside the circle of the royal family. Jesus is the visible face of the Father and was born among us and so He is one of us as humans and stands of us the Wisdom of God.
The list of forty-two names suggests what is He here for, where is He from and who is He? It allows us to see the connections in the family tree. The genealogy list which has three parts namely the first part is from Abraham down to David, the second from David to the deportation to Babylon, and the third from the deportation to Joseph and Mary have unbelievable names with their bad reputation and those whom we would not include in our families.
In doing good, we need to include everyone. May the Lord help us welcome Jesus, the Wisdom of God. God bless you.
