We reflect on 1 Corinthians 5:1-8; and Lk 6:6-11.

Leadership in Christian communities are so vital for peaceful governance. Disputes and disagreements are to be settled amicably within the community is the teaching of St. Paul to the community of Corinth.
Sacredness of the community depends on the way they manage and treat the members with dignity and decency. St. Paul does not give an outline like St. Matthew as it is 18:15, “If your brother sins against you, go, and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother. 16 But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every word may be confirmed by the evidence of two or three witnesses.” For St. Paul, love and peace are sufficient to settle issues.
Jesus invites us to be in prayer before we discern and decide something crucial in life. Persistence in prayer, humility in prayer and examples in prayer are so abundant in the Gospel of Luke that is called the Gospel of prayer. Jesus chooses twelve apostles with the whole night prayer and discernment. Jesus reserved this term Apostle for those who would witness His resurrection while St. Paul used extensively for those who spread the Gospel.
May we not rush to make rash judgments when there are disputes and disagreements in our families and communities. May our prayer moments help us deal with everything we face in life. God bless you.
