May the Lord give you peace and health in the Holy Spirit.
It is 25th October 2021.
We reflect on Romans 8:12-17 and the Gospel of Luke 13:10-17.
We all struggle with sin, mortal or venial. Self-determination alone cannot deal with the sinful clingy character. What we all aim at is to become another Christ and it is a lifelong process.
To overcome sin is not a personal effort alone but it is a partnership with the Holy Spirit who repeatedly leads us to God. “By the Spirit, you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.” (Rom.8:12). The profound and unchanging love of the Father constantly restricts actions and behaviour that are harmful to us in relating with God.
God desires new life, new nature, and new freedom from all that we struggle especially breaking the power of sin, building hope alive and committing ourselves in obedience to Christ.
When healing is considered a profession, we leave out God conveniently and place our trust in the person, qualifications, and skills. Humanity is not chained by the clutches of the law. Law cannot suffocate the freedom of humanity. Any law that strangles windpipes of liberation, has a hidden agenda. That leads to hypocrisy. By upholding the law, we ignore the dignity of the human person is the hypocritical life many of us lead. Caring for creation and created things over the crown of creation, the human person is indeed hypocrisy.
When a family, community or any group undermines the healing of human beings over protecting the fences of law, it leads to hypocrisy. Jesus chided the leaders for their preferential interpretation of the law in looking at the glorious miracles God performs even on a Sabbath day.
The author of all evil is Satan who does not want us to have health and happiness. We do not need to be afraid of Him. Jesus has all the power to heal the sickness even if it is so perennial, prolonging, and pervasive.
Whenever we are willing to leave the grip of sin, we are stripped of all evil, sickness and sadness in life. May God bless you to deal with the power and influence of sin in our life. May God bless you.
