May the Lord grant you grace, peace and health in the Holy Spirit.
It is 08th August 2022. We celebrate the feast day of St. Domini, Priest. We reflect on Ezekiel 1:2-5, 24-28 and Matthew 17:22-27.
There is a human tendency to fit God in the frames we have designed as per our understanding, culture, and tendencies.
God is present even in a secular and atheistic situations and people. The prophet Ezekiel had the vision of God’s presence in the land that did not accept God. God’s glory and presence cannot be limited a place, person or just an event.
Hence, we need to be responsible and sensible in deciphering the footprints of God in a familiar, comfortable, and socially accepted situations and concepts.
As God’s children we all have the responsibility towards humanity and community in every sense.
In the Gospel, Jesus paid the annual tax for the upkeep of the temple. Even though, we are all the temples of the Holy Spirit, we all must be part and parcel in keeping the sacred places and the spaces of the community we are part and utilise. By paying tax, Jesus did not exempt Himself from the social duty to belong to a community and avoided a public scandal being a teacher. Therefore, we too be cautious and clean in not using our power, position, and social status in exempting ourselves in taking care of the common good. May God bless you.
