It is 19th January 2021.
The readings are from Hebrews 6:10-20; and the Gospel from Mark 2:23-28.
Requesting your prayers and blessings on this day, I thank God for the 25th year of my ordination.
God remembers all the good things we do and forgets the evil we do instantly. To be remembered means to be blessed, protected, and loved intensely and intimately by God. The security and salvation belong to our God.
“God is not unjust; he will not overlook your work and the love that you showed for his sake in serving the saints, as you still do.” (Heb.6:10)
The first reading encourages us to be our initial enthusiasm, eagerness, and energy in working for the Lord. Faith and love of Abraham is given to us emulate. Even more, we have hope in Jesus who is our priest who brings us closer to God.
The responsorial Psalm praises, “The Lord will remember his covenant for ever.” (Ps.111:5)
In saving and serving humanity in hunger, we can go to any extent. In the Gospel Jesus, takes the stand for those in need and asserting Himself by extending His support. Any law that makes a human being hungry is against God’s will and plan for the humanity. By destroying the poor and the hunger, no nation can develop itself. There are so many hungry people around us during this pandemic. What is our response to them? Are we talking and defending a law over a hungry person? May the Lord help us to be generous towards the hungry and share the little we have with the other. “The sabbath was made for humankind, and not humankind for the sabbath; so, the Son of Man is lord even of the sabbath.” (Mk.2:28). May God bless you all.
