Good morning good people, May the Lord give you peace and blessings in the Holy Spirit.
It is 17th November 2021. We celebrate the memorial of St Elizabeth of Hungary, religious.
We reflect on 2 Maccabees 7:1, 20-31 and the Gospel of Luke 19:11-28.
Greatness is known by its little sparks.
A family that speaks a language of courage provides a milieu, means and mission for its children to speak the words of truth and live the life of the trust.
A mother of Maccabees and her seven sons display fidelity even amidst cruel persecution is the first reading. Having witnessed the example of the law, the entire family lived and died for the welfare of the community. We cannot conserve without conversation and conversion. Witnessing is contagious when our lives have become a testimony of authentic commitment to service. Fear paralyses our entire being and does not allow us to do the right thing. Little happiness and success are achieved with great sacrifice and suffering. Fear can be faced when we can fragmentize and begin facing them.
What do we do with the little that God has entrusted to us? Have we multiplied it or mutilated and mugged it under? “To all those who have, more will be given; but from those who have nothing, even what they have will be taken away.” (Lk.18:28).
All of us have something to give. It is the way we give; we are noticed by God and the community. By emptying we acquire more experiences of trustworthiness. God looks up to each one of us daily how we perform in handling those gifts God has bestowed on us. Giving ourselves and all, we have is indeed a moment of taking risks. The hostility among people vanishes where honesty and truthfulness are displayed in a proactive and generous way. We all have received more than we can give. Let us decide to give in a way that pleases God and the community. God bless you.
