It is 17th September 2020. We celebrate the memorial of St. Robert Bellarmine
The readings are from 1 Corinthians 15:1-11 and the Gospel from Luke 7:36-50.
“By the grace of God, I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain.” (1 Cor.15:10).
To believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus is our response to the love we have experienced in the Lord.
In the first reading, St. Paul correct the belief of the Corinthians on resurrection and confesses his faith in Jesus and his preaching as one who was even though unworthy yet loved by God through Jesus.
God leads us to the Truth with patience and perseverance. God never gives up on us in imparting the truth.
The work we do for the Lord brings us closer to the Lord not the titles we hold in the Church. The unmerited love of God can be experienced by all of us like Paul in Jesus.
The responsorial Psalm praises, “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good.” (Ps. 118).
Jesus teaches us all that by acknowledging our unworthiness we experience the forgiveness of God.
The woman in today’s Gospel showed her faith in humility and received her forgiveness by her act of love.
Let us stop judging others when they are doing acts of love towards the suffering Christ in our humanity. Rather let us be mindful of our sinfulness and repent. May God continue to strengthen us for our faithful acknowledgement of the Lord through our humble service. Have a lovely day.
