May the Lord fill you with grace and bless you with health and happiness.
It is 11th September 2022. We celebrate 24th Sunday in ordinary time. We reflect on Exodus 32:7-11,13-14; 1Timothy 1:12-17; and Luke 15:1-32.
The central theme is about God who is looking for those who are lost. God surprises us the way God looks for us when we are lost. Mercy and forgiveness of God never run dry.
Moses pleads God to be merciful on God’s for their unfaithfulness in worshiping false gods. St. Paul confesses that even though he was the greatest sinner of all, yet God in God’s mercy pardoned him. Grace of God was abundant to guide and lead him to proclaim the mercy and love of God. He said that he was so sinful, yet God showed love and mercy.
We have a Gospel of mercy. Three stories explain the inexhaustible mercy and forgiveness of God. God who seeks and our acceptance of the unconditional love of God, God’s generosity in forgiving and loving the sinner. God is delighted and celebrates the return of the sinner. Three stories about losing and finding: a Shepherd loses a sheep and find it; a woman loses a coin and finds it; and a father loses son and finds him. We need stop grumbling about the way God does take care of the sinners and the lost.
God is patiently waiting for us to return to Him. God never gives up on us, no matter how long we take to realise the mercy and love of God. God is not tired of looking for us.
It is indeed a day we need to do an inventory of our life. May we allow God’s love and mercy to flow from our lives. May we confess our sins and own it and eventually to give them up. To experience the abundant blessings and wholeness, we need to reach out to those in need of God’s love. May the Lord bless you. Have a lovely weekend.
