May the Lord give you peace in the Holy Spirit. It is on 26th August 2023. We reflect on Ruth 2:1-3, 8-11, 4:13-17 and Matthew 23:1-12.
God fulfils whatever God planned through human interactions.
Being human is the quality of serving. Humility is the qualification for selfless service. The greatest among you will be your servant. The intention to serve has no expiry date. Loyalty leans on love and service. To be at the beck and call of humanity is the purpose and meaning of our existence.
In the first reading, a faithful Ruth married a man of her father-in-law’s tribe named Boaz and eventually gave birth to a son whose grandson was King David.
In the Gospel, Jesus points out that we need to believe Jesus more than mere words. Our faith sharing must not just end in words alone. It is not our skill in displaying the best words possible in preaching matters rather our preaching must be the outcome of our lives.
It is not our knowledge and intelligence that we need to display to attract many people but to bring people closer to Christ by sharing Christ Jesus as our knowledge and light of our lives.
Fruitful preaching is not a demonstration of better words rather it must be the outcome of better lives. When words remain words without action, it has no spiritual impact whatsoever on others. People end up liking the preaching but not loving it to adopt for their lives.
Our faith need not end in the display of public shows rather genuinely and deeply personal and interconnected. Self-seeking reverence and gathering followers for what we do and say is opposed to the values of the Kingdom. We are here to love and lead people to love’s origin.
When we have used our faith for personal gains and upgrading our personal lives, we just use God and God’s people. May there be a connection between what we say and what we live. Our humble service to the bruised humanity is the best preaching this world needs not the waves of words.
May you have a good day.
