It is 27th August 2022. We celebrate the memorial of Saint Monica. We reflect on 1 Corinthians 1:26-31 and Matthew 25:14-30.
We cannot paint a picture of life without the shades of experiences. God counts on every tiny memory and experiences that shape us to be the person God wants us to be.
If only we have mothers like St. Monica, who brought St. Augustine closer to God, every child will realize it is worth to the fullest. When we are so contented with ourselves, we tend to forget the giver of all we have today at this point in life.
Our selective lethargy and complacency at times forces us to suppress God intentionally and glorifying ourselves for everything. Our freedom, wisdom and strength come from Christ alone. With Christ we can do anything as much we can imagine however weak and fragile, we could feel. As St. Paul puts it: “If anyone wants to boast, let him/her boast about the Lord.” (1 Cor.1:31). To attain this level of maturity, we all need to be faithful in those little things.
It is not how much God has given us that matter what we do with what we have received. We become good servants of God only putting the gifts, talents, and resources for the welfare of common-good and community. By sharing we increase more in blessings. “For to everyone who has will be given more.” May the Lord help us recognize God’s gifts in our lives and give honour and glory to God. God bless you.
