May the Lord grant you grace, and peace in the Holy Spirit.
It is on 30th March 2023. We reflect on Genesis 17:3-9 and John 8:51-59.
How often do we break the promises to God and one another?
God attempts to make a covenant with us as God did it with Abraham. God wants us to be blessed and fruitful. God was faithful to Abraham as he repeatedly pleased God and so God promised him generational blessings and his descendants. We too are entitled to such blessings as long we listened to the Word of the Lord and be faithful to God as Abraham. The imposition of a name from Abram to Abraham is an act of ownership, making God’s own possession. He becomes the father of many nations for the faithfulness he showed to God.
The Psalmist recounts: “The Lord remembers his covenant for ever.”
Gospel attempts to show the primacy of Jesus over Abraham to the people who believed Abraham was a father over Jesus. Jesus not only claims Himself as God and showed how great He was over Abraham and had the knowledge of Abraham even before everyone gathered around Him.
It is the time of expressing Christ’s divinity. “Now, Father, it is time for you to glorify me with that glory I had with you before the world was.” (Jn.17.5).
Our faith in Christ is a right relationship with God. May we ask the Lord for the gift of faith. May God bless you.
