May the Lord give you peace and health in the Holy Spirit.
It is 23rd June 2021.
We reflect from Genesis 15:1-12, 17-18 and the Gospel from Matthew 7:15-20.
God never goes back or forgets the promises made to the humanity. “God does not take back his gifts. He does not change his mind about those he has chosen.” (Rom.11:29).
We tend to forget the promises made to each other whether in marriage or consecrated life. Despite the promises of God, Abram had no children. Fruitlessness does not depend on the old age but on the faith.
At times, we give up on God and begin to believe in human intervention due to lack of faith in God’s Word and God’s promises. Just like the father of faith, we all need to hang on there around even the circumstances and evidence not supporting the cause. God’s promises are reliable and refreshing.
“Your troubles have come in order to prove that your faith is real. Your faith is meant to bring praise, honour, and glory to God. (1 Peter 1:7)
When our faith gets weakened, we seem to go behind wrong people especially false prophets, teachers, preachers, and so-called gurus. In the Gospel, Jesus reprimands His followers not to trust the empty promises loaded with words of assurance and healing. Jesus taught us not to judge in the previous passage but today he invites us to know the tree by its fruits. We are to discern what we hear before we believe and accept to our heart. The actions and words are the proofs of one’s thoughts. Fruits of love in our life is the proof of life lived in faith. Love is strengthened and sterilized by faith. Without faith, love remains a jargon, a magical word, or a myth. God’s love is proven in the actions God performs in our life. We need to discern every action in love to continue being faithful to God.
Let us honour our promises we have made to God and one another. Have a peaceful day. God bless you.
