It is 24th March 2021.
The readings are from Daniel 3:14-20, 24-25, 28; and the Gospel from John 8:31-42.
Love is the freedom we all can breathe with the power of faith in Jesus. The flames of faith can handle the flames of fire.
We are living in a world where we are willing to compromise God and our faith for so many reasons. For most of us, God is not the priority and faith is not our antidote to our challenges in life.
The example of the three young men who trusted God to the extent, fire could not burn them down. When we have such profound faith that young men, fear loses its shadows and strength. In the absence of Moses, people worshipped molten calf but here in the presence of a king the youngsters demonstrated their unwavering commitment to the Lord. Even if God does not deliver them, they were not ready to worship the idol erected by the king.
The responsorial Psalm praises, “To you be glory and praise for ever!” (Daniel 3:52).
Freedom comes from the Lord offers courage to come closer to Christ. “So, if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.” (Jn.8:36). Listening to Jesus makes all our bondages to be free. Truth sets us free. Jesus is the Truth. Freedom unlocks all selfishness and lies so that we love and share with others. Leaving our sinful attachment is the freedom we all need during this Lent. It is time to prove our commitment to the Lord and live like the child of God. Being true to ourselves and listening to the voice of the Lord like that of the young men will set us free. More we worship the idols in our life, we live far apart from the Lord. What are the idols we worship secretly out of fear? True freedom, happiness and love only found in the Lord and is reliable always. May endeavour to demonstrate our faith when we are upset with God and feel God is unfair to treat us this way or that. Have a lovely day. God bless you.
