May the Lord give you peace, grace, and blessing in the Holy Spirit.
It is 22nd March 2022. We reflect on Daniel 3:25, 34-43 and Matthew 18:21-35.
Forgiveness is just more than a reciprocal act. But it is a rendezvous of reclamation beyond mindful measure. Only in forgiveness, the reciprocity tracks down the retrospective effect in everything.
When it come for forgiveness, we all have some homework yet to complete in our life. Our forgiveness needs to be unconditional, immeasurable, repetitive, and untiring.
Without forgiveness there is no inner liberty, and freedom from hatred, guilt, and anger. Forgiveness is the mirror in which people could see their image of God. Unbiased and unlimited forgiveness is possible through a painful and persistent forgetfulness of the strings and smell of the hurtful acts.
It is mercy that bargains with justice to render forgiveness. To forget is divine and to forgive is sheer human. It is when forgetting fuses with forgiveness we become truly humane. Forgiveness is the most courageous act we all can perform without being rewarded by God or by another person. Is it possible to forgive a same person again and again?
At the end, mercy becomes a visible action demonstrated in forgiving attitudes and behaviours even when the other person does not deserve our pardon. It will be impossible to forgive someone when we have chosen to be ungrateful. God expects us to forgive others by words but by consistent actions. The closer connection between God’s forgiveness towards us and our courage to forgive other person happens in the environment of gratitude and generosity of heart. The proportion of forgiveness does not hinge on the number of sins but on the quality of relationship to be restored to the core.
“So, my heavenly Father will also do to every one of you, if you do not forgive your brother or sister from your heart.” (Mt. 18:35). It is indeed hard to write these few words on forgiveness without examining my own conscience and ask pardon to all those who I have been a scandal and burden inflicting pain into your life. May the Lord grant us the courage forgive and accept forgiveness from others. May God bless you.
