Fear and love are opposed to each other. Where there is love, there is no fear and vice versa.
The epiphanies of the Lord are numberless. Having multiplied the bread and fish, He walked on the water not to scare but to manifest His divinity. Jesus never inflicts fear because He is the total expression of God’s love.
“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” (Jn.4:18).
The environment of love evokes inner courage to identity, acknowledge the other person without masks and exaggerations. Fear is the exaggerations of the shadows of struggle in loving the other person.
FEAR – Flooding Emotions Acutely Replay.
The floods of fear cannot erode the walls and the banks of love. But when fear blinds the eyelashes of the vision of love, we miss many things. The disciples who were filled with fear failed to recognise the love of the Lord for God’s people.
What is the fear you and I have today that blurs our vision of love towards one another?
May the Lord help us to recognise the power of love even amidst the dark clouds of fear around our life. God bless you.
