May the Lord give you peace and grace in the Holy Spirit.
It is 10th November 2021. We celebrate the memorial of St Leo the Great, pope and doctor of the Church.
We reflect on Wisdom 6:1-11 and the Gospel of Luke 17:11-19.
What God loves most; seldom do we offer. There are numberless things and events to be thankful for. We have become the receiver and recipient mostly
We need to “set our desire on my words; long for them, and you will be instructed.” (Wis.6:11). The voice of God is heard in the movements of our being. By constantly listening to the Word of God, we are intimated timely to be grateful and graceful to one another.
The healing of ten lepers is proof of what is going on in humanity today. Jesus healed ten lepers but only one came back to thank Him and glorified God while the rest did not feel the need for it. The Gentile leper thanks God while Jewish lepers took God for granted and moved on in their life.
Faith without gratitude is bookish, wordy, and fancy. To be thankful means to have an authentic relationship with God and one another.
We too might be like that of the Jewish lepers who believed that they deserved healing because they were the favourites and the chosen ones. When we take our faith for granted, we gradually slip into ingratitude, indifference, and personal gratification.
Being thankful means being kind, considerate, mature, and other-centred. May the Lord help us to be grateful in all we do or say. God bless you.
