Faith in Jesus allowed Martha to rise above the clouds of grief and boldly proclaim

Good morning good people may the Lord kindly bless you with good health and happiness in the Holy

Good morning good people may the Lord kindly bless you with good health and happiness in the Holy Spirit.

It is 29th July 2025. We celebrate the memorial of Saints Martha, Mary, and Lazarus—close friends of Jesus.

We reflect on 1 John 4:7-16 and John 11:19-27.

St. Augustine beautifully puts it across:

“But you, Martha, are blessed for your good service and for your labours; you seek the reward of peace. There will be none of these tasks there. What you will find there is what Mary chose. There we shall not feed others, but we ourselves shall be fed. So, what Mary chose in this life will be realized there in all its fullness; she was gathering fragments from that rich banquet, the Word of God.”

Speaking about Lazarus, the Saint confessed: “Faith opens the tomb of the heart.”

Unless we confess the Life, we cannot construct our lives.

Our confession of faith in God is the proof of our belief in truth and action in love.

A personal and intimate relationship with Jesus allows us to experience the fullness of His identity as the Son of God.

Jesus is the definite expression of the Father’s love for all who believe.

After St. Peter, it is St. Martha who openly proclaimed Jesus as the Christ.

St. Martha remains a model for embracing the Truth and the Life, even in the midst of a busy life. Jesus did not downplay her work but rather lifted her spirit to God. He wanted Martha to care for her spiritual life as much as she cared for material needs. Jesus reminded her of her responsibility to nurture her inner being while she was so keen on feeding others and caring for them.

Our love for humanity should never crush the affectionate layers of love and mercy towards ourselves.

If we truly know the Truth, we will fall in love even more deeply than before.

In the Gospel, we are gently reminded of our responsibility to love God as we love those around us. The confession of Martha sheds light on her profound faith in Jesus:

“Yes, Lord. I have come to believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, the one who is coming into the world.” (Jn 11:27)

Emulating Martha’s example of hospitality—bringing others together—may we surrender in prayer and evangelize through love and acts of mercy.

An anonymous saying goes: “One who ceases to be better ceases to be good.”

There is so much to learn from the saintly lives of Martha, Mary, and Lazarus:A confession of faith in Jesus; An untiring spirit of hospitality;A willingness to sit at the feet of the Lord and listen;A deep friendship with Jesus

Faith in Jesus allowed Martha to rise above the clouds of grief and boldly proclaim:

“Yes, Lord, I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, the one coming into the world.” (Jn 11:27)

She believed in the resurrection and confessed it. Her prayerful pleading brought her brother back to life through Jesus.

To believe is to have the courage to face the Lord and, like Mary, sit and listen.

To be near the Lord is the best portion we can ever choose.

We all have something to learn from these saints.

From Lazarus, we learn that in suffering and pain, God never abandons us; He breathes life and hope into hopeless situations.

May we strive to emulate their example in our lives.

God bless you.
