We reflect on Romans 9:1-5 and the Gospel of Luke 14:1-6.
Every moment is a golden opportunity to live the Gospel values. It is a mere choice but a decision. To choose is easy but to decide to live is a challenge indeed.
There is a price, penance, and pain associated with imparting what we have imbibed. Preaching needs the Spirit of God who shapes and chisels our rough areas before we could shine the humps in humanity.
Without due respect and reverence to other cultures and beliefs around, we cannot share our love for God. As St. Paul was willing to go through inconveniences for bringing Jewish brothers and sisters in mirroring the model of Jesus who saved all people by the most humiliating and humbling sacrifice on the Cross, we all need to make a sacrifice for the brothers and sisters who are far from the home of the merciful God. God gave status to the people of God by this very act Jesus, the Only Son of God.
There is nothing so significant and important as the human person. So doing good and thinking and taking a stand for justice and truth will not ditch us in hell even though we might be going through ostracised and segregated by those who hold the power and influence in the society. Jesus was invited by a Pharisee in his home not out of love but to trick and tease Him. Yet, Jesus was not ashamed to face those people.
Just like the Lord, when we are faced with showing charity and fear of being blamed for not following the law, we need to lean on compassion over commandments, helping the needy than holding on to rituals. The courage to face truth comes by living truth in our hearts. When we are truthful, we are all endowed with divine power, presence, and courage to do good. May God bless you to do good to remain faithful to God.
