Good morning good people, May the Lord give you peace, and blessings in the Holy Spirit. It is 20th October 2025. We reflect on Romans 4:20-25; and the Gospel from Luke 12:13-21.
“Are we living in faith, or lost in greed?”
Faith leads us to embark on a journey where human reason hesitates to proceed. Life is an opportunity to believe in God, not to behave like God. Life offers innumerable opportunities to have faith in God through the Church. Believing in the promise of God requires faith.
The first reading presents us with the father of faith, Abraham, who never doubted the promises God made to him, even though there was ample room for doubt and denial of God’s offer. Biological barriers cannot alter the plan of God. Every good thing that has happened to us is through the instrumentality and love of God. Since we enjoy God’s goodness, we learn to reciprocate with our love and generosity toward others.
It is not the ability or capacity of Abraham to fulfil the promise of God but the tenacity of faith that intensified the relationship with God.
We too become partakers of the same faith that Abraham displayed when we place our trust in the forgiveness of sins offered by Jesus through His passion, death, and resurrection. The responsorial verse proclaims, “Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel! He has visited His people.” (Lk 1:68).
The Gospel explains the difference between true and false security. When love is compromised for money, there is no room for faith. Visceral attachment to money is the root of all evil (1 Tim 6:10). We sometimes believe that material things give us security. In today’s world, togetherness has been replaced by the power of speech driven by divisive rhetoric. Everyone claims to offer a form of security more powerful than the other, yet we all feel insecure, even in highly guarded buildings.
Refusal to believe that God is our true security has been sown in human hearts from the very beginning by a system that aborts the connection with the Divine. Many forget that life is a sheer gift from God and begin to cage themselves in selfish hoarding, becoming like walking dead—rich in money and muscle power but poor in spirit.
We are all on an exodus to Heaven when we share what we have; otherwise, we tend to exclude God and choose to live in exile. Only faith in God provides sure security for the human soul.
Like Abraham, we are called to trust in God’s promises, even when they seem impossible.
True freedom lies not in possessing much, but in trusting much.
May the Lord strengthen our faith in Him so that we may live a life of dignity and respect.
May you have a good day. God bless you.
