Good morning good people may the Lord bless you with grace, and peace in the Holy Spirit.

It is 24th January 2022.  We celebrate the memorial of St Francis de Sales, Bishop, and Doctor of the Church.

We reflect on 2 Sam 5:1-7, 10 and Mark 3:22-30.

Talking out of turn brings more animosity than amicable settlements.  Some of us jump to conclusions, comments, criticism as swift as the tsunami that brings about nothing but disharmony and divisions.  Criticism consoles none or corresponds to reality.  Every criticism is an opinion disproportionally displayed words jungled with the emotions of the others.  Whether we say something positive or negative about something or someone we become the victim of criticism.

At times our criticisms could become the source of advertisements even when it has impacted the person personally.  Our criticisms bring out the quality of our thoughts and mindset than that of the one we have targeted.  Nothing provokes so profoundly in others except a calibrated silence.

Even though the Jebusites splashed humiliating words against David, God intended to bless him even more.  “David became greater and greater, for the Lord, the God of hosts, was with him.” (2 Sam. 5:10).  By realising the presence of God in our life, we can face any number of criticisms.  Hence, it is not worth giving up when we are unfairly criticised by those who hate us.

Whenever the popularity and fame of an individual grow, it attracts badmouth people.  David and Jesus were criticised by people who could not accept or tolerate their growth.

Criticisms are a personal assessment and interpretations of the one we either envy or consider as the enemy.  People who cannot compete with others end up criticizing.  May we watch out our the unjust and unnecessary criticism we utter.  God bless you.
