Good morning, good people,
May the Lord fill you with peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. It is 11th September 2025. We reflect on Colossians 3:12-17 and Luke 6:27-38.
St. John Chrysostom reprimands us: “If you cannot find Christ in the beggar at the church door, you will not find Him in the chalice.”
Do we put on love—or put down people?
St. Paul invites us today to “clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience” (Col 3:12). These are not just outward garments but the true uniform of a Christian heart. Above all, he says, “clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.” This provides us with the compassion, forgiveness, love, and peace we need to live together in harmony. Where love is present, rivalry and hostility lose their power within the Christian community.
We have no choice but to live as God’s chosen people in love and forgiveness. Yet it is always challenging to behave the way God calls us to behave. Still, we must put on love and never put down people.
In the Gospel, Jesus stretches us beyond comfort: “Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you” (Lk 6:27-28). These words are radical, yet they become real when true love breaks the chains of hatred, grudges, and indifference.
Let us try wearing the garment of Christ—that is, kindness, humility, patience, and love. By virtue of Baptism and Confirmation, we have the power to make others shine beautifully by the garment we ourselves choose to wear.
May God bless you abundantly.
