It is 12th January 2022. We reflect on 1 Sam 3:1-10, 19-20 and Mark 1:29-39.
“Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.” (1 Sam.3:10). “Here am I, Lord; I come to do your will.” (Ps.40:7,8).
Preciousness is displayed in its rarity. Familiarity generates disrespect. God makes many attempts to speak to us.
In the history of Israel, there were prolonged periods without the utterance of God and God went into a deep silence to prepare them to listen better.
The silence of God is not a sanction on us but sanctifies us to listen to points in our life.
When we are familiar with the voice of some people, we might mistake them to be the voice of God.
However, the presence of God is so close to the body, yet someone needs to help us listen to the voice of the Master.
God calls Samuel yet he mistook the voice of God as Eli, the prophet. It is the prophet who presumed
Prayer insecticides our popularity. Popularity penetrates and poisons our prayer. Even amidst a hectic schedule of the meeting, and healing people, Jesus found time with God. Priority of all the ministries is prayer indeed.
Being in touch with the Word of God, we can regularly listen to the voice of God. Hence, our vocations are futile without the Word of God and personal prayers. Even though everyone was looking for Jesus, He looked up to God in His personal prayers. May the Lord help us to avail ourselves whenever God speaks. God finds opportunities to speak, do we have the priority to listen? God bless you.
