May the Lord give you peace and grace in the Holy Spirit.
It is 27th December 2021.
We celebrate the memorial of St John, Apostle and Evangelist. His contribution in writing what he saw, and experienced is mystical and different from synoptic gospels.
We reflect on 1 John 1:1-4 and John 20:2-8.
St. John was the special disciple whom the Lord loved most, and He could trust leaving His Mother Mary under the custody of him. In all peak spiritual experiences, John was present with Jesus. He gave a personal reflection coupled with his experiences with Jesus as the Gospel.
“The Word made flesh,” is the synthesis of his writing. He brought us so close to the presence and power of the Word of the Lord through his writings. His invitation to all of us is to become the witness by living the Word. The Beloved Disciple of Jesus was the only made disciple to stand near the cross at the last moments of the Lord, witnessed the empty tomb and expressed his profound belief in the Risen Lord Jesus and offered his entire life to Jesus and remained single till the end.
The author of the fourth Gospel, John convinced us to believe in the love of God and encouraged us to love others as God loves us. As he bore the testimony to Jesus, the Word of the Father, so we can bear witness to Jesus by loving and caring for the other.
May the celebration of his day bring us closer to the Lord and Saviour in the manger. God bless you.
