May the Lord give you grace and peace in the Holy Spirit.

It is 03rd November 2021. We celebrate the memorial of St. Martin de Porres.

We reflect on Romans 13:8-10 and the Gospel of Luke 14:25-33.

Love is the planning and programme of our life. Love cannot afford to hurt. An authentic and sincere love is therapeutic and brings integral healing and growth. Love is our moral code in managing our familial relationships, sanctity of life, and safeguarding the vulnerable members of our humanity. Love is at the best interest of the other always. True love not only protects but provides the courage to love even more.

We are all indebted to each other in love. It is not good to spiritualize love but humanize it. We all fall short of loving to its perfection, yet we need to aspire for the ideal. God’s love is not ideal but real and made it manifested through the sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross. Love without sacrifice and suffering is not true love. The profound joy of love is experienced in being there in presence and priceless moments of caring, sharing and bearing with one another.

Total dedication is so crucial for the disciple of Jesus. But attachment with the family of origin and those families who care for us destroys the right relationship with Christ. When our minds are occupied with material possessions and its accumulations, we do not value the relationship, love, and affection in life. lack of dedication, undue attachments and hoarding material possession weaken our commitment to the Lord.

Accepting and willing to be a disciple presumes our readiness in exposing ourselves to all kinds of suffering and persecution as we prioritize God and keeping our connections and importance to our family next to it.

May the Lord help us to be sincere in loving and to be a disciple of hope and charity to all people. May God bless you.
