May the Lord give you grace, peace and health in the Holy Spirit.
It is on 09th November 2022. We celebrate the feast day of the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica. The official church of the Pope and rightly called the “Mother of all churches.” Our belonging to the Family of God, the Church is echoed by this feast today. The church is not merely a structure, a building but the mystical presence of the Most Holy Trinity. We expressed our unity with the Church as we recognise the Pope, the Vicar of Christ here on earth as our head. We reflect on Ezekiel 47:1-2, 8-9,12; 1 Cor 3:9c-1,16-17, and John 2:13-22.
“Life does not give you what you want but it gives you what you believe. What you believe because you are designed to win but you are programmed to lose. It is so important what you believe. It is self-healing. It is self-transformation,” says Lena Kay.
How do we treat our temples of God’s Spirit?
Life of God flows from to humanity a sacred place or space which is set apart by the community. St. Paul stresses the same idea of personalizing and making it more tangible and visible. “You are God’s field, God’s building.” (1 Cor 3:9). Jesus too deepens the idea of the temple and a profound longing in every human telling, “Zeal for your house will consume me.” (Jn.2:17).
We all have our affiliation, a close and intimate connection with the temple of the Lord. We feel so blessed, purified, rejuvenated, and renewed in that sacred and serene space called Church.
As we celebrate the feast day of the mother of all Churches, we need to look right deep into ourselves. If we can clean up the mess, we have created then we can feel the closeness in cleanness around us. As Jesus did the clean-up campaign, we need to do something right within ourselves. Bringing everyone closer to God is the purpose of God’s temple. May our temples welcome and become inclusive of all those who feel no place to go for. May God bless you.
