May the Lord grant you grace, peace and health in the Holy Spirit.
It is 09th August 2022. We celebrate the memorial of St. Theresa Benedicta of the Cross (Edith Stein). We reflect on Ezekiel 2:8-3:4 and Matthew 18:1-5, 10, 12-14.
In life, most of us want to show the other person how right and correct we are. A longing or desire to be on the prime moments, at the top and to show how great we are.
Comparing with others and making our name great, we engage in constant self-advertisement and end up losing interest in others and those who have already lost sight of God and values.
The readings suggest that God is hiring people who are interested in someone who have lost hope, direction, and path towards God and good. The qualification for this noble profession is to have child-like trust and confidence in God. God wants humble people to work and search for the proud, the arrogant and self-righteous to embrace God, love, and mercy. “Whoever humbles himself like this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” (Mt.18:4)
Before we look for the lost, and the hopeless, we need to consume the sweet bitter Word of God that is going to have inner transformation before we engage in the reformation of the community. “And he said to me, “Son of man, eat this scroll that I give you and fill your stomach with it.” Then I ate it; and it was in my mouth as sweet as honey.” (Ez.3:4).
May the Lord help us to be generous in working for the welfare of common good. God bless you.
