May the Lord bless you with grace, peace, and health in the Holy Spirit.
It is 16th February 2022.
We reflect on James 1:19-27 and Mark 8:22-26.
Though listening is exhausting, doing what we listened to is rewarding. God is pleased with what we do mostly.
Listening is indeed learning yet, it is not enough to mirror Christ to society. Leaning on God give us the courage to lessen the burden of others. The Synodal process we have begun in our respective Christian communities bring us closer to reaching out in times of need.
We tend to forget the image of God in us when we fail to reach out to the orphans, the widows and the downtrodden in our community.
St. James reprimands us to have control over our tongue and the abundance of words we use to convince others. But he convinces us that profusion of actions does not require flowery words.
“Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.” (James 1:27).
The clarity to see Jesus comes not by faith alone but by the charitable actions we perform for those in need.
There is nothing wrong with the power of healing in Jesus as He restored the sight of the blind person. Our instant declaration of faith does not help us to recognise the Son of God in Jesus.
May the Lord help us to mature our faith by mirroring Christ through our actions.
