May the Lord bless you with grace, peace, and health in the Holy Spirit.
It is 14th February 2022. Wishing you all a happy valentine’s day.
We too celebrate the memorial of Saints Cyril, monk and Methodius, bishop whose contributions towards Eastern liturgy was so remarkable and worked for the unity of East and West. They are the patrons of Europe.
We reflect on James 1:1-11 and Mark 8:11-13.
Life is not all about collecting, storing, and distributing information. Quality information comes in a mini package full of truth, and integrity.
St. James wishes us to be face trials and temptations as a happy privilege.
Malcolm Muggeridge says, “All happenings, great and small, are parables whereby God speaks. The art of life is to get the message.”
We can be tested and tempted spiritually, materially or in human relationships.
Even though Jesus has performed so many signs and healing, the Pharisees demanded a sign from Jesus. “He sighed deeply in his spirit” indicates the frustration of Jesus with Pharisees. They were looking for a spectacular, magical miracle from Jesus. They tempted Him, tested him to prove His worth. There is nothing to prove in this world except living a life of intensified integrity. Recognizing the good things in us and around us is the way to overcome the temptation to look for signs.
At times, we too are tempted to look for signs without encountering the person of Jesus.
There is a temptation to live a life free of problems, suffering and pain. Hence, we desperately searching for suffering-free life. One group of us believe that happiness comes when there is not an iota of suffering present. Another bunch of us presume that searching for happiness amidst suffering is another type. But encountering and experiencing the person of Christ is what brings lasting happiness even amidst trials and temptations.
Our integrity is the identity of our dignity. His Holiness Pope Francis reminds us of this: ‘When everything is said and done, we are infinitely loved.
May the Lord help us to love people beyond our expectations. God bless you.
