Living our lives with love, mercy, and forgiveness daily, we experience the kingdom of God right within and around us

May the Lord give you peace and grace. It is 11th November 2021. We reflect on Wisdom 7:22

May the Lord give you peace and grace.

It is 11th November 2021.

We reflect on Wisdom 7:22 – 8: 1 and the Gospel of Luke 17:20-25.

We celebrate the memorial of St Martin of Tours, bishop. An act of charity, he kindly showed depicts his heart. One day he encountered a beggar with bare minimum clothes seated in freezing weather. Without thinking so much, he cut his own cloak in two and gave one part to the beggar. On that night in his dream, Christ appeared to him wearing the half of his cloak he had given to the beggar.

We just read a hymn to Wisdom with finely chosen twenty-one attributes divided into three sets of seven that pervades, permeates all things. Wisdom contains all Truth, Goodness and Beauty. It is the breath of the power of God and the reflection of the light of the Most High God that resides in every person. “For God loves nothing so much as the person who lives with wisdom.” (Wis.7:28)

Without the help of wisdom, we will not be able to feel the presence of the Kingdom of God in our lives and the events that unfold in front of us. Answering the question of the Pharisees about the timing of the Kingdom of God, Jesus replied, “the kingdom of God is within you.”  Jesus is the kingdom of God through His ministry of preaching and healing. In the visible events of life and invisible moments, God’s healing presence is the proof of the kingdom of God.

Living our lives with love, mercy, and forgiveness daily, we experience the kingdom of God right within and around us. It is a conscious effort to feel the presence of God in our life. Believing in God’s reign, presence, and power we continue to alleviate the pain and suffering in others.

When we do the will of God like St. Martin, we all can experience the kingdom of God. May the prayer of St. Martin be ours too, “Lord, if your people still need me. I do not refuse the work; let your will be done.”

May the Lord help us to be sensitive in acknowledging the presence of the kingdom of God by our lives of love, kindness, gentleness, compassion, generosity. God bless you.
