May the Lord bless you with peace and health in the Holy Spirit.
It is 07th September 2021.
We reflect on Colossians 2:6-15 and the Gospel of Luke 6:12-19.
Receiving the Sacrament of Baptism is just a beginning to live for Christ. Yes, it is the rebirth, a new beginning to live a life of faith in action.
We cannot go on moving away from Christ by accepting and believing all that suits our living whether it is a strange philosophy, psychology, and spiritual teaching. Anything that leaves Christ to justify its worth more than the Lord need to be taken seriously because in the long run it encroaches and invades our conscience and benumbed of charity.
False and strange teachings are on the rise. Unless we are careful, we will be inhaling something so harmful not only physically but integrally. These strange documents could be prevalent in our Christian communities, the pious groups, and relationship-building associations within the Church. The more we criticize our Church and the leaders, the less we believe in Christ and His teaching. We are all baptized to build up the Church not to destroy. That does not mean that we cannot voice our opinions in the Church. Our opinions need to be based on the faithfulness of the Lord and the Church. Ungrateful persons cannot be faithful ones. There is a clear disconnect between thanksgiving and giving in the one who stretches faith to an extent that does not include the moments of love, peace, and joy.
Christ did not compromise with the powers but conquered them. There is no need to look for an auspicious time, lucky beads and numbers, and astrological charts to live a happy life. there is a growing tendency among the believers to hold on to an object such as blessed oil, medals, statues, scapulars, blessed candles than Christ Himself. The power of Christ supersedes all the powers. Hence, we are to be on guard in diluting and compromising our faith over anything.
Christ calls all of us to be apostles. By the virtue of Baptism, we are to be the missionary disciples for Christ. We are baptized and so we are sent.
“All in the crowd were trying to touch him, for power came out from him and healed all of them.” (Lk. 6:19). We who are baptized and sent need to bring the power of Jesus in all we do and say. The need for touch is still a topic of debate in the Church.
May the Lord help us to witness the values of the Gospel. God bless you.
